Umstead run report, Loblolly/Turkey Creek
I took Paul out to Umstead for his first run there today. The route was a mix of single track and bike/bridle trails. The first 1.5 miles were on Loblolly, a very technical trail, with lots of ascent/descent. We popped out on Reedy Creek b/b, then left on Turkey Creek all the way through, then left on Graylyn, left on Reedy Creek b/b again, then right on Reedy Creek Lake b/b. Paul did a great job, his first time on those wild Turkey Creek hills. It was incredibly windy, the air was filled with dust and dirt. Forest fires are lighting up all over the state today; fortunately Umstead was not affected. A very good run today. Not slow by any means, at an 8:38 average for 9 miles.
